Notices are sent to persons having overdue materials. These notices are distributed by the High School English teachers, Junior High teachers, and elementary teachers.
Any student having overdue library books or magazines should return them to the LMC as soon as possible. It is the responsibility of the student to know the due date.
Fines for overdue library materials will be assessed at the rate of 10¢ per school day. However, overdue fines will not be greater than the cost of the item, as long as the item is returned.
As for lost and defaced items, the fine will be the cost of replacement plus $1.00. If the lost item is found before the close of the school year, the student will be refunded the $1.00 processing charge and any amount exceeding the regular fine of 10¢ a day.
Also, a student who has an overdue book or a fine will not be allowed to check out another book until the overdue book is returned or the matter is resolved between the student and the LMC Director. Furthermore, if the student refuses to pay the fine, he or she will not be able to use the LMC without a pass from a teacher to work on a specific assignment.
If a student is unable to pay the fine, he or she may work out an arrangement to work in the LMC or bring in an appropriate book or books of equal value in place of paying the fine.
