Personal Description Why I Love Life |
For starters, God has been good to me. Given the gift of life, I first saw the light of day in May, 1941 (the exact same day Bob Dylan was born.) My good parents, Roy A. Menzel and Margaret Rogers Menzel, provided a stimulating and nurturing environment for me and the six brothers and three sisters that would follow.
The Catholic faith gave its richness and nourishment to me, and eventually called me to the priesthood in the Diocese of La Crosse. Ordained in 1967, I have had the privilege of ministering among the people of Wisconsin in Marshfield, La Crosse, Eau Claire, and my current assignment as pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Wisconsin Rapids.
Besides the joys and challenges of my work, I love reading, writing, learning, flying, classical music, technology, amateur radio, and just about anything else that piques my curiosity.
If I die today, I'll die a happy man. I have asked for little, but have been given so much.
And the best is yet to be.
