GRASCAR RACING SERIES
Rules and Regulations
The following rules are designed to keep tractor racing in our area fun, competitive and above all SAFE! These rules are intended as a guide for conduct and in no way guarantee against injury to the participants, property of the participants, spectators or others. They are not a substitute for care or common sense that should be exercised by participants in a tractor racing event. We also assume no responsibility for any injuries etc. that may occur from participating in these events. All participants will sign a release of liability discharging the event sponsors and staff from such liability.
These Regulations may be modified, added to, deleted from, or grant exception to at any time. By participating in these events, all participants agree to abide by these and all regulations.
Our main goal is to provide affordable, fun, competition of driving skills, and safety to these events. For those who wish to seek loopholes in these regulations or otherwise lose the spirit of these regulations, We suggest that you look into other types of events to participate in, as this is the wrong place for that type of behavior.

THIS IS AN ATTEMPT AT KEEPING THESE EVENTS AFFORDABLE, FUN, COMPETITIVE, AND SAFE!!!
GENERAL COMPETITION REGULATIONS:
1) No alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs or controlled drugs will be used by any participants on or around the track during any event. Violation will result in disqualification and loss of points.
2) NO BUMPING WILL BE TOLERATED!!!
3) The responsibility for a safe pass rests with the overtaking driver.
4) The following flag signals will be used and enforced:
GREEN: Race / Practice is underway
YELLOW: Take care. Danger. NO PASSING ON ENTIRE COURSE.
Drivers are to form a single line and Stop on start / finish line. Follow the starters direction. Slower machines may signal following machines to pass
RED: Stop Racing immediately. Clear up the track as much as possible.
BLACK: Driver must complete lap and return to pit and consult with the pit steward. A furled black flag means the driver must clean up his or her act or receive a black flag.
WHITE: One lap to go. Crossed with a green means half way point.
CHECKERED: End of race / Practice session Driver must complete lap and return to pit or impound area.
5) If a Driver leaves the course a yellow flag will be thrown. A restart will result (See Rule 6 for info on yellow flags). If a driver intentionally leaves the track to get a yellow flag thrown that driver will be black flagged.
6) Yellow flag rules:
A) If a driver causes or is involved in 2 yellow flags in a single race that driver will be sent to the pits for the remainder of that race /practice unless driver consents to allow other involved to stay in their current place.
B) Any and all drivers involved in a yellow flag will be restarted with all positions on that lap lost. Back of the pack. With the driver that caused the yellow at the very rear.
7) Machines must be fully stopped before driver dismounts.
8) Protests against other drivers or crew members must be logged in writing with a race official on an official protest form prior to the start of a race.
9) Laps will not be counted under yellow. There will be a minimum of 2 green laps after a yellow to finish a race.
10) After a race the wining driver will proceed to carry a checkered flag victory lap after each race, then return to the pits or impound area.
RULES OF THE PITS:
1) No person under 14 years of age will be permitted.
2) Long pants, closed shoes and shirts are required in the track area.
3) Refueling: A driver must dismount and engine stopped before refueling.
4) Crews are under the direction of the pit steward at all times.
5) No pets allowed on the racing track or pit area.
DRIVER SAFETY EQUIPMENT:
1) Driver must wear an automotive or motorcycle helmet with DOT or SNELL rating.
2) Eye Protection is required.
3) Driver must wear long pants, long sleeved shirt or jacket, full fingered gloves, and over the ankle footwear on the track. No loose clothing.
MOWER ELIGIBILITY:
1) Events are open to all self-propelled riding type lawn mowers. It must remain suitable for lawn mowing with the exceptions listed below.
2) Every mower entered into any events will be subject to a track official tech inspection. This inspection sheet will be on file for the entire event.
3) At the end of a race the winner will be subject to a tech inspection in a designated impound area immediately after the drivers victory lap. Failure to comply immediately will result in a disqualification.
4) Drivers may be tested by race officials at any time for knowledge of flag signals or regulations. Drivers must pass all tests in order to race or practice.
5) Drivers must show safety equipment at Tech Inspection prior to racing or practicing.
6) Race officials shall have the right to remove from competition anyone that is not in compliance with safety issues or other regulations.
GENERAL MOWER REQUIREMENTS:
1) Cutting blades must be removed.
2) All mowers must be equipped with a dual throttle return spring.
3) All mowers must be equipped with a tethered kill switch that will stop the engine if the drivers leaves the vehicle. No driver shall have a switch or any other device that bypasses this safety kill switch.
4) Mower brakes must be in good condition and function properly.
5) Mowers must be safe and complete with all sheet metal securely fastened.
6) No protruding object (Bumpers etc.).
7) Race numbers should be a minimum of 5" high and be visible on both sides.
8) All numbers will be pre-registered. Some participants may be asked to change numbers.
9) All positively charged terminals should be taped or have a insulating cover over them.
10) No offset or stagger. Body must be mounted in the center of the wheels. Seat must be mounted on centerline and not below the fenders or top of tire if no fenders are installed.
11) Glass headlights etc. must be removed.
12) Maximum of 38" width sidewall to sidewall.
13) Exhaust may be modified (Unless track location doesnt permit).
14) No centrifugal or torque converter clutches.
15) Minimum 4" ground clearance to frame.
16) The only acceptable fuel is pump gasoline. No Additives!
17) Driveline must use unmodified transaxle of lawnmower origin.
18) Engine must be 16.5 horsepower or less, and of the same shaft type as original mower.
19) Body must remain stock, no modifications, and hood must be secured.
20) Discrete frame strengthening is allowed. Front and rear spindles must remain in stock position. Front spindles to be L or J shaped with minimum of 5/8" shaft.
21) Front axle must be bolted or welded solid. Any other strengthening modifications will be subject to Tech Inspection for safety.
22) Wheels must be steel with max diameter of 8" diameter.
23) Tires must be of lawn mower types on grass and dirt (Lugs may be cut).
24) Tires may be other types on Ice and Snow racing.
26) Ice and Snow racing may use studs
A) Studs may be used (must be 1/4" head sheet metal screws installed from the outside of the tire.)
B)NO CARBIDE STUDS
27) Tire diameter of no more than 15" front and 20" rear.
28) No handlebars must use stock type steering wheel.
RACING
- Tech Inspection
- All machines will be timed in
- Drivers will draw numbers for position in time trials
- Hot laps will be 1 hour before time trials
- Time trials will be 1 start-up lap and then 1 timed lap
- Field will follow an inverted start
- Races will be run as follows:
5 lap dash
10 lap heat races
15 lap consolation
15 lap semi-feature
20 lap feature
(These are base for races and may be increased or decreased due to time constraints).
- Points will be accrued throughout season to determine a points champion
- Entry fee is $5.00 / machine

Organizers reserve the right to reject at any time a mower, which, in their opinion, represents an attempt to defeat the spirit of these regulations or in any way impose a safety issue. Even if the mower complies to the letter of these regulations.
